OBJECTIVE

The goal of our program is to help children develop the English language skills to succeed. We are primarily focused on helping the kids develop their speaking and listening skills.

READING LITERACY - Structure

OPENING SONG - 5 mins

  • Kids are split into groups based on age.

  • Each session begins with a sing-along song and kids will sing the song in both Spanish and English.

  • Music promotes learning and helps children pick up new words.

FINGER PLAY ACTIVITY - 5 mins

  • A transition from the song to help the children settle down.

VOCABULARY REVIEW - 10 mins

  • Review vocabulary words from the previous week.

THEME DISCUSSION - 10 mins

  • Go over the theme of the current week and teach the children relevant new vocabulary words.

READING ALOUD - 20 mins

  • Instructor reads to the children with methods and approaches (tonal changes, dramatization, etc.) that are identified to engage children.

  • During the reading lesson, instructor will also encourage children to use new words that fall under the theme of the week.

BREAK TIME ACTIVITY - 5 mins

  • Kids get up and do a quick activity before sitting down again.

CLOSING SONG - 10 mins

  • End with a closing song that kids will sing in both English and Spanish.

PUBLIC HEALTH ACTIVITY - 30 mins

  • The public health aspect is important because we want to enhance the kids’ holistic wellbeing, which is enriched not only by learning but also by their health practices. These activities are aimed at teaching kids about healthy and hygienic choices and habits.
